ABOUT:
PAPER ANCHORS is written about the feeling of being trapped in a vicious cycle that you want to escape. Being stuck in a routine that you’re struggling to break. Whether it be a relationship, a toxic friendship or just a much needed change. “Is this only temporary, are we too far in?”
lyrics
LYRICS:
The lights go out and it's night again
We're floating outside like it's always been.
Along the way I stop to think,
Is it only temporary, are we too far in?
And we roam around, talking to ourselves
This empty bowl is filling and I'm trying to pull you out.
It's a long way down, hope that we don't drown
Tomorrow I'll be here again and we'll be bound.
Could I cut the ties I find, are haunting all the demons that I left inside.
Could we tear all the paintings that were running dry,
Blame it on the weather just one last time.
Big steps to fill all the while, the making of the pieces only makes it worth the lie.
Chasing the anchors and pacing ahead.
And we're riding through the white lights, passing over midnight,
Sailing on the high tides, waking in the past so air tight.
Stalling all these fancy words I knew, faking only makes it worth what's true.
Wreck the past, fake smiles and paper trash, pull the cord, break out the real facade.
Stalling all these fancy words I knew, faking only makes it worth what's true.
Could we speak a lie again,
And hope that maybe when the night begins,
Tomorrow's only 10 steps down below
If the pieces of the parting glass could tear these woes.
